Cat workshop

Today I have been working on this cat for a coloured pencil workshop at the Wells Adult Education Centre in May. I had to take some short cuts as it is only a day workshop. This took me 3 hours including making notes on the way so I am hoping everyone will get it finished in 5 hours. The size is 18x15cm on dark grey Pastelmat. I have used Derwent Coloursoft pencils as these are the ones the students will be using.

Lovely picture. Great for your students. It's ages, even years, since I drew an animal in cp. I'd love to try out your instructions and post feedback. I have pastelmat, but no Derwent coloursoft. (about the only ones I don't possess.) Would it be OK to use similar pencils?

Jenni no problem with pencils I actually prefer Prismacolor for this but I thought the students might have difficulty getting hold of them so I invested in a tin of coloursoft. I am in the process of typing up the instructions so will let you have a copy.

Jenni I have sent you 2 emails with the instructions and pictures, they are rather large files so email me if you haven't received them. I will try to work out which Prismacolor pencils to use.

I haven't received your e-mails. If it's ok with you I'll use mainly Polychromous, with Prismacolour back up. Looking forward to the exercise, I've been a bit in the doldrums lately!

Great job Pauline! I've done this kitty too, but you did a better job on his eyes than I did. The students should get close to finishing it.

I decided against doing an animal for my workshop. I'm doing a still life instead. Easier for everyone and can do another workshop later on if they really want to do an animal. Let us know how it goes!!! Get pics too! :D

Thanks Nancy, it's not until May and I have some willing volunteers to give it a try first. I guess we do what we are most comfortable with and I have done more fur than still life in CP. Good luck with your workshop.

If you send me a private email through UKCPS Groups I will email again. I think the file was too large for blogger.
