Emu

I took this photo of the Emu while travelling to Ularu (Ayres Rock) Australia.  They are such comical creatures.  This is a quick sketch using Derwent tinted charcoal pencils with pastel pencil for the bright orange eye.  The paper is dark grey pastelmat size 15x30cm.

I photographed a couple of emus at our local wildlife park/zoo last Summer and they are wonderful subjects aren't they - comical but graceful.

This is a lovely picture

He's a haughty looking chap, Pauline, nice sketch! I feel guilty now as Whipsnade Wild Animal Park is less than 2 miles from me but I never go there - think of the photo opportunities I'm missing out on....tut tut. ;)

Janet I lived a few miles from Whipsnade for 7 years when my children were at school and I think we only went once. I'm not that keen on seeing animals in captivity but Whipsnade is one of the better zoos for space. I wish I could afford a safari and see the African wildlife....
